Famed TV host Dick Cavett’s oceanfront estate in the Hamptons is for sale.
The Montauk property at 176 Deforest Road, known widely as legendary party palace Tick Hall, is now on the market for a mere $27.95 million. That’s less than half of its original asking price of $62 million.
The 20-acre estate has also been dubbed Cavett’s Cove by local East Enders since Cavett bought it in 1968 — after renting it first in the 1960s.
The stately residence was originally designed by McKim, Mead & White and dates to the 1880s. However, it was destroyed in a fire and then famously rebuilt in the original style by Cavett and his wife in the 1990s.
Cavett, who became famous on the small screen for his engaging interview style, hosted some of the world’s most famous personalities at Tick Hall over the years. Guests have included Woody Allen, Mick and Bianca Jagger, Andy Warhol, Dustin Hoffman, Edward Albee, Tennessee Williams and Robert Redford.
The estate is anchored by a 7,000-square-foot main residence that features seven bedrooms and a wraparound porch. Perched on an imposing cliff, the property also has an outdoor staircase that leads to 900 feet of private shoreline. It also comes with a pool, a pond, lush landscaping and miles of walking trails. It is bordered by “nearly 200 acres of oceanside parkland along 2,200 feet of coastline,” according to the listing.
