Sphere Announces New Venue In Wahington, D.C.

The Sphere in Las Vegas is getting a little sibling.

Sphere Entertainment announced plans to build a 6,000-seat mini-Sphere at National Harbor in Maryland, about 15 minutes outside Washington, D.C.

Although the venue will be smaller than its Las Vegas counterpart, the company says it will feature the same technologies that have made the original Sphere a hit in Sin City.

The project is expected to generate $1 billion in revenue for the region and is slated to open in 2030.

The Sphere Las Vegas opened in fall 2023 with a sold-out residency from U2. It has also hosted Phish, Dead & Company and recently began showing an immersive version of “The Wizard of Oz” – which just surpassed 2 million tickets sold.
